Episode 49: Country Gold Interview w/Mickey Reece & Ben Hall

November 16, 2022  /  Aaron Haughton

Mickey Reece and Ben Hall join Aaron for a chat about Reece's latest film, Country Gold. The pair star as Troyal Brux (a riff on Garth Brooks) and George Jones, and they spend a night out on the town in Nashville before Jones is to be cryogenically frozen, waxing philosophical, ruminating on regret, and contemplating artistry and legacy. The film plays with the iconography of its country stars in the same ways in which Reece did with Elvis in his 2017 film Mickey Reece's Alien. Like all Reece films, Country Gold is a surprising ride loaded with comedy and complexly drawn characters. This is one wild night out you'll want to ride shotgun on!
