Martin McDonagh's latest film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, a rousing, biting, yet hopeful, black comedy, releases today. We had the opportunity to see the film early in mid-October and were blown away, and we think you will too. Takashi Miike is the most prolific filmmaker working today. He's done everything from Yakuza flicks to horror films to musical and family features and everything in between. Within his 26 years as a filmmaker, he's even managed to cram in on heck of a milestone: his 100th film, Blade of the Immortal, his latest samurai epic, which is now showing in select theaters. Recently, Miike took to the reddit forum r/Movies for an AMA (ask me anything). We've combed through the lot and pulled out these five cool nuggets below.

In case you didn't know it, today is World Vegetarian Day, which is observed annually around the globe every October 1st "to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism." The holiday kicks off a month long effort to raise awareness to the ethical, environmental, health and humanitarian benefits of leading a vegetarian lifestyle. Sometimes referred to as "Reverence for Life" month," we thought there's no better way to celebrate the plant-based holiday than with a little cannibalistic fun. 

Film is a tough industry to break into, but you've got to start somewhere. Some of the biggest names in the industry today got their foot in the door by doing something else first. A large number found their way into director's chair by crafting music videos. Back in the day when music videos reigned supreme, it was an easy way to garner the attention of the Hollywood higher-ups; however, now that MTV is dominated by "reality" TV shows, music videos aren't as big as they used to be, but can still be a stepping stone to the larger film industry.

No one seems to be as happy with Alien: Covenant as I am. I loved the origin reveal of the xenomorph, and I'm happy to have another bloody Alien film a part of the saga. Whether you love it or hate it, I think I've found some common ground that we can all celebrate from Covenant.

You probably didn't know it, but today marks the beginning of the Twins Day festival, which takes place yearly in Twinsburg, Ohio (how fitting, right?). The festival is the largest annual gathering of twins in the world and attracts over 2,000 pairs of twins per year. The yearly spectacle was actually inspired by a pair of enterprising 19th-century twins, Moses and Aaron Wilcox, who owned about 4,000 acres of land in, what was then known, as Millsville, OH. The Wilcox twins offered to donate some acreage for a new town square and $20 (worth roughly 360 bucks in 1918) for a new school under the condition that the boring name of Millsville be updated to Twinsburg. 

The corporate environment isn't for everyone. It can be a cutthroat place where you gotta kiss loads of ass and sacrifice your true self bit by bit in ways that erode your mentality, which can drag you into some pretty low frequencies at times. It can very easily send people over the edge. This list explores the films that take a look at the darker side of the office and prove that the workplace can be murder, both literally and figuratively.  

There are a number of reasons that make America one of the greatest countries in the world -- our belief in freedom, love and liberty, the individual, currency and prosperity, inalienable rights, and the pursuit of happiness (whatever that means), just being a few. To celebrate America's birthday, we're counting down our top 5 films that embody America, making us feel damn proud to be Americans. 

We all wanna stick it to the man, but sometimes we lack the courage or freedom to really be able to do so. That's why it's always cathartic and gratifying to see a character (or characters) in a film live it out for us. These are the top 5 (predominantly) workplace films that really stick it to the man, helping us cope and endure for a little while longer.  

You ever see a film and then think that it might've been better serviced within another medium? Generally, Hollywood is quick to snag the rights for a book or comic to churn it into mainstream, popcorn munching motion pictures; however, there have been several instances that would've been better serviced if they weren't films at all. In this list, I'll be counting down my personal selections that would be even better or more successful as a comic series.
