Rocko's Modern Life Reunion
Article by Aaron Haughton
Here's a bit of excellent news to brighten your Monday: the original cast of Rocko's Modern Life is reuniting for a TV movie! The one hour TV special will come our way in 2018 and has been dubbed Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling.
If you recall, Rocko was a four season (52 episode) run, spanning from 1993 to 1996, on Nickelodeon and followed the hysterically ordinary life of Rocko, a wallaby living in O-Town, his pup, Spunky, and his friends, Heffer the steer and Filber the turtle. The shows return will surely be an interesting critique of our modern times.
Rocko's Modern Life was one of my favorites growing up, which has stood the test of time, due to its buried adult-oriented content and humor, because I still find it just as enjoyable today. I can't wait to grab the remote and check this one out.
Honestly, I'm hoping the film is just an extended cut of Wacky Delly, which blew my mind as a kid, and remains one of the quintessential Rocko episodes. I'm fairly certain this is the first avant-garde short film we were all exposed to as children. Here it is for solidarity:
Also set to return is Invader Zim, Hey Arnold!, and Legends of the Hidden Temple. It looks like Nickelodeon is feasting on our childhood nostalgia, which I'm pretty much OK with.
What do you think? Are you glad Rocko and company are back? We want to know. Share your thoughts and feelings in the comments section below, and, as always, remember to viddy well!
